Nashville, TN (November 25, 2025) — Internationally renowned criminal behavioral analyst Laura Richards has been awarded the Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa)from The University of Law in London, recognizing her extraordinary professional achievements and her tireless commitment to social justice. The University of Law is one of the UK’s most established providers of legal education and professional training, with a longstanding commitment to advancing justice, public protection, and excellence in law and criminology.

The award highlights Richards’ decades-long mission to transform how the criminal justice system identifies, assesses, and responds to dangerous offenders. Her evidence-based work has reshaped legislation, protected victims, and set new global standards for public safety.

Richards’ pioneering contributions include driving transformative reforms in stalking and coercive control law, creating widely adopted risk-assessment models, advising major police bodies, and founding Paladin, the world’s first National Stalking Advocacy Service. Her work continues to empower survivors, influence policy, and inspire cultural change across generations.

Presenting the award, Dr. John Kerr, Head of Policing and Criminology at The University of Law, said:

“Her career reflects a consistent commitment to applying analytical rigour to real-world problems, bridging the gap between behavioural science and practical law enforcement. Today, we recognise her outstanding professional achievements. For her tireless commitment to social justice, Vice Chancellor, it is my great pleasure to present Laura Richards for the award of Doctor of Laws, Honoris Causa.”

Richards expressed her gratitude, saying:

“Thank you to the University of Law for this award. I am deeply humbled to receive this honorary doctorate recognizing my professional achievements and tireless commitment to social justice. It’s been a long journey and I am only just getting started. This recognition is not mine alone. It belongs to every victim and family member who has shared their story with me and every professional who stood with me and refused to accept it was just ‘a domestic’ or ‘low-level nuisance behavior.’

I also want to acknowledge my extraordinary colleagues and mentors, campaigners and survivors who have walked beside me. And to every listener of the Crime Analyst podcast who has taken action to amplify victims’ voices and let legislators know that women matter — thank you. Change doesn’t happen by chance — it happens by choice and by us using and amplifying our voices. Together we can change and save lives. There is no greater honor than that.”

This honorary doctorate not only recognizes Richards’ global expertise, but also celebrates her relentless commitment to protecting women and children: work that continues to influence law, policy, and public understanding across multiple countries. Her ongoing efforts include advocating for coercive control legislation in the United States and Australia, as well as reforms to ensure serial domestic abusers and stalkers are proactively identified, assessed, and managed by criminal justice agencies.

“Countricana” Singer-Songwriter Caryn Dixon Releases Bold New EP ‘Bird in A Cage’

Nashville, TN (September 26, 2025) – “Countricana” singer-songwriter Caryn Dixon has released her highly anticipated EP, ‘Bird in a Cage—a raw and powerful collection that captures the courage of breaking free, the fire of transformation, and the beauty of new beginnings. Blending the soul of Americana with the storytelling spirit of country music, the project showcases a fearless sound that pushes past genre boundaries while staying rooted in authenticity.

The five-track EP unfolds like a personal journey, with each song marking a step toward liberation:

  • “Bird in a Cage” – a story of captivity and the longing for freedom
  • “Mama” – a moment of clarity when leaving is the only path towards growth
  • “Arson Song” – a daring anthem of burning down the past to make space for something new
  • “Sweet Mountain Flower” – a tender ballad that embraces the possibility of love and happiness
  • “Those Days” – a reflective closer that looks back on past pain with strength and grace, leaving listeners with closure and hope

The EP features songs co-written with Nick Gates, Gabe Neal, Dawn Kinnard, Chris Strait, and Doug Forshey, and was produced by Gabe Neal. Adding to its organic sound is a stirring fiddle performance by Emerald Butler, whose playing brings texture and depth to the project’s most poignant moments. Content and photography by Callie Dixon.

A fierce advocate for women, Dixon recently shared her personal story on The Covert Narcissism Podcast, opening up about the hidden abuse behind the “perfect couple” image and the inspiration for ‘Bird in a Cage.’ She describes her experience with domestic abuse as “like being in a prison,” a reality that fueled both her healing and her art. Her story explores silence, self-doubt, and the transformation of turning pain into music.

Caryn’s mission is rooted in empowerment, especially for women who’ve felt forced to choose between family and chasing their dreams. Through both her music and her platform, she is proving it’s possible to honor both. Her growing career isn’t about chasing fame; it’s about building something real, one story, one listener, and one step at a time.

“My main goal in writing these songs is to inspire people,” Dixon explains. “If I can help one person go out and find themselves again, it’s all worth it.”

‘Bird in a Cage’ is available now on all streaming platforms.

About Caryn Dixon:
Raised in a small town in central Pennsylvania, Caryn Dixon began writing songs and singing in church choirs at age seven. Today, she’s a genre-defying singer-songwriter known for her honest lyrics, powerhouse performances, and fierce advocacy for women, particularly those impacted by domestic violence and emotional manipulation.

In late 2023, Dixon released her debut single, ‘Print Your Name and Sign,’ produced by The Pear (April Rose Gabrielli and Jacob Kulick). The track resonated deeply with listeners—especially those navigating or healing from traumatic relationships—leading to podcast guest spots and a growing community around her message. Her follow-up single, ‘Here I Am,’ produced by Gabe Neal and Justin Frech, landed on major Spotify editorial playlists, reaching over 12 million listeners.

Dixon describes her sound as “country-ish” — a fearless fusion of country, rock, bluegrass, folk, and pop. Never one to color inside the lines, that genre-bending approach shines through in every track she creates. Referred to as a “barn burner” by fans and industry insiders alike, Caryn’s performances are both energetic and heartfelt.

Outside of music, Dixon shares her creative spirit on her YouTube cooking show, Chef-ish, where she serves up deliciously imperfect recipes with heart and humor. From caramelized French toast and homemade cherry pie to campfire Italian sausages, her dishes—like her songs—are comforting, a little unconventional, and always full of flavor.

Whether she’s on stage, in the studio, or behind the stove, Caryn Dixon’s purpose remains the same: to empower others to take back their stories and live life on their own terms…even if it means doing things a little “-ish.”

This song is for anyone who has been in, or is currently in, the grip of a narcissist, or anyone facing the pain of an extremely toxic partner. Here’s your sign to leave. Male or female, you are worthy of love, and you are worthy of happiness. I found mine on the ‘Other Side.’

According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, intimate partner violence affects more than 12 million people every year. “I want this song to save lives and change the world,” Jacquie emphasizes.

Rising Nashville Artist Mikki Zip Releases Gritty New Single “Sweethearts of the Dive Bar”

Nashville, TN (August 29, 2025) – Pull up a barstool, crank the jukebox, and toast to trouble… Mikki Zip is back with her fiery new single, Sweethearts of the Dive Bar.” Out now on all streaming platforms, the track is a neon-lit tribute to small-town legends, late-night shenanigans, and the kind of friendships that turn hole-in-the-wall hangouts into hall-of-fame memories.

With edgy lyrics like “This dim light room has seen better days / But we make it look damn good in this haze,”  “Sweethearts of the Dive Bar” fuses southern rock grit with a splash of honky-tonk charm. From dartboards and whiskey sours to smoky rooms that feel like home, the song (written by Mikki Zip, Paige Ruderman, and Chris Justice) is a love letter to nights that don’t need a red carpet to feel like the main event.

With vocals as raw and raspy as a cigarette burn on a wooden bar, Mikki channels the grit of Janis Joplin and the fire of Joan Jett, carving out a sound that’s both rebellious and magnetic.

“If you ask me about my perfect night out with the girls, ‘Sweethearts of the Dive Bar’ would about sum it up,” Mikki shares. “I hope it reaches all the folks that love some southern rock and a Friday at their favorite local dive.”

With “Sweethearts of the Dive Bar,” Mikki Zip proves you don’t need stadium lights to shine like a star. Sometimes all it takes is a dusty jukebox, a loyal best friend, and a round of Fireball shots.
